The ET Smart Schedule will bring you a brand new user experience. After updating your ImoLaza Smart Sprinkler Controller to firmware version 1.4.001, you can enjoy the ET Smart Schedule. Not sure if the Flex Daily schedule is suitable for you? This article can help clear up your doubts!

1. What exactly ET Smart Schedule is?

ET Smart Schedule is highly suitable for irrigating mature lawns, as it automatically generates watering durations for each zone and adjusts the watering frequency based on weather, seasonal, and climate changes to meet plants' watering needs in any environment. Additionally, ET maximizes water conservation and greatly simplifies the scheduling process.

2. How does it really work?

ImoLaza offers two expert systems to assist with watering: the Watering Duration Expert and the Weather Genius. The former calculates the necessary watering duration for each zone based on factors such as soil type, nozzle precipitation rate, allowable depletion of water from the soil, and crop root zone depth. The latter integrates weather data from various sources to provide accurate and timely information for optimal watering, including the decision to skip irrigation plans when appropriate.

The Intelligent ET Master determines the watering frequency and uses data from the Weather Genius to monitor evaporation and plant transpiration around the clock. By combining this information with location and real-time weather data, the system ensures timely watering when needed and can skip unnecessary watering while maintaining soil moisture at the appropriate level. The combination of the Intelligent ET Master and the Weather Genius can help users achieve efficient watering, conserve water resources, and improve crop growth quality.

In addition, the ET Smart Schedule operates relative to each individual zone, meaning that the execution and skipping of watering for each zone are independent of one another. Therefore, while performing the operations, you may likely observe that the watering times for different zones within the same ET Smart Schedule vary.

3. Can I convert a Fixed Schedule or a New Grass Schedule into an ET Smart Schedule?

No, once you have created a schedule, its type cannot be changed. Different schedules have varying numbers of start times, watering frequencies, and skipping mechanisms, which makes it challenging to switch between them. Therefore, it is crucial to choose the right schedule type to meet your specific needs.

4. Would this type of schedule be suitable for zones with mixed crop types?

No, in fact, none of the three schedule types is suitable for regions with mixed crops. We recommend grouping plants with similar attributes together in the same area for optimal results.

5. Will the zone watering duration change throughout the season?

No, the ET Smart Schedule will automatically generate the watering duration for each irrigation cycle, and this duration will remain fixed.

6. Do I need a PWS for this?

While you may need data from a weather station, you don't necessarily have to purchase one yourself. ImoLaza offers data from 375,000 private weather stations and 5,000 national weather stations, with nearly 3 to 5 available weather stations to choose from within 5 kilometers of your location. Please click "Settings" - "Controller Settings" - "Weather Stations" to select a weather station.

7. It seems that my trees need to be watered for 3 hours, what gives?

The root systems of trees, shrubs, and perennials are significantly deeper than those of cool and warm-season grass. As a result, it takes more time to irrigate them to the level required for the soil to be fully saturated and reach field capacity. However, despite the need for longer watering periods, the frequency of watering will be much less frequent.
