We will guide you through the Freeze Skip and Wind Skip features of ImoLaza in this article, explaining how to use them and answering common questions like when the temperature check occurs, how the check works, and how to adjust the Freeze Skip settings. Keep reading for more information!

When do they check the temperature or the wind speed?

Half a minute prior to the scheduled irrigation, both "Freeze Skip" and "Wind Skip" features utilize the weather data collected by a weather station within the past hour, including the temperature and wind speed.

How do they work?

The "Freeze Skip" feature refers to a process where, half a minute before the scheduled irrigation begins, the weather station checks the average temperature of the previous hour. If it falls below the set threshold, the current irrigation cycle is skipped. However, if the temperature is above the threshold, the schedule will proceed, but at the 45-minute mark, the controller will recheck the temperature. If it is still below the threshold, the schedule will be stopped. If the temperature remains above the threshold, the schedule will continue until completed. If the scheduled duration is less than 45 minutes, no additional temperature check will be performed.

For example, let's say it is an autumn morning, and you have scheduled watering for your lawn at 7:00 AM. The "Freeze Skip" threshold is set at 0°C. Half a minute before the scheduled time, the smart irrigation system will check the average temperature reported by the weather station for the past hour. If the temperature is below the threshold, let's say -2°C, the system will skip the irrigation cycle. If the detected temperature is above 0°C, the schedule will proceed as planned. At 7: 45, the controller will recheck the current temperature, and if it is below the threshold, the schedule will be stopped. If the temperature is still above the threshold, the schedule will continue until completed. This feature helps households save water and protects the irrigation system from freezing damage.

"Wind Skip" operates on a similar principle.

How to set or adjust it?

While configuring a fixed schedule, you will first set the Rain Skip threshold. If you wish to modify this threshold after finalizing the schedule, you can easily do so by following the steps outlined below.

1. Choose the schedule

In the Schedules interface, select the schedule for which you need to modify the Rain Skip threshold.

2. "Weather Intelligence" tab

3. Modify the threshold

Choose the precipitation at which you would like your schedules to skip watering.
