You will require a screwdriver as the only tool. It is imperative to ensure the safety of the process by turning off the main water supply beforehand. The main shut-off can be accomplished by turning the ball valve or any other equivalent device.

Locate the valve causing the issue and loosen all the screws on its bonnet, then carefully remove the bonnet. Check the diaphragm for any signs of damage, such as tears or rips, which could result in improper closure of the valve. If the diaphragm is not in a suitable condition, replace it. Next, take out the support ring and inspect it for any rocks that may be hindering the valve from closing. Remove any rocks found and clear the valve of any debris.

Reinsert the support ring and diaphragm, making sure they are in their proper place. Then, place the bonnet back on the valve and tighten all screws to secure it in place. Finally, turn the main water supply back on, close the valve lid, and your valve should now be functioning correctly.
