When attempting to connect a new device to your home WiFi, sometimes you may encounter connection failures regardless of whether you scan the device's QR code or manually enter the MAC address. Here are some troubleshooting steps to address and resolve this issue:

 

1. Check network connectivity: Ensure that your phone receives at least two bars of WiFi signal strength near the controller when connecting the device. If the signal is weak, try getting closer to the WiFi router or use a signal booster to improve the connection quality.

 

2. Verify WiFi password: Confirm that you have entered the correct WiFi password. Sometimes passwords may have been changed, and forgetting to update it on the new device can lead to connection failures. Ensure the password is accurate and attempt to reconnect the device.

 

3. Check WiFi frequency: Confirm that the device is connecting to the 2.4GHz frequency of your home WiFi. Some devices only support the 2.4GHz frequency and not the 5GHz frequency. If your WiFi router supports both frequencies, ensure the device is connecting to the correct one.

 

If the above steps still do not resolve the issue, try the following troubleshooting steps:

 

1. Reset the device: try unplugging the device's power source and wait for at least 10 seconds before reconnecting. This process can clear the device's cache and reset any error states, providing a clean starting point for reconnection.

 

2. Force quit the app and reopen it: Sometimes the app may encounter errors or unusual states that cause connection issues. Try force quitting the app associated with the device, reopen it, and then attempt to reconnect the device.

 

3. Device reset and re-addition: Locate the RESET button on the device and press and hold it for approximately 5 seconds to reset the device. Then, restart the device and attempt to re-add it to your home WiFi network.
