If you are unable to distinguish all the irrigation wires, you can differentiate them through the following steps.

First, power up the controller. If the irrigation system has a main valve, loosen the main valve in advance to ensure water flows normally. Then, randomly select two wires and make contact with the 24V AC +/- terminals(in either order) on the controller. Compare the results with the table below.

If your irrigation system doesn't have a main valve, alternate contact between irrigation wires and the 24V AC terminals. Identify the common wire first, then determine individual zone wires based on the sequence of sprinkler activation.

If your irrigation system includes a main valve, alternate contact between irrigation wires and the 24V AC terminals. Identify individual zone wires based on the sequence of sprinkler activation. Tighten the main valve. Simultaneously, contact the remaining wires and one zone wire with the 24V AC terminals to identify the common wire and control wire for the main valve, referring to the provided table.
