We will guide you through the Freeze Skip and Wind Skip features of ImoLaza in this article, explaining how to use them and answering common questions like when the temperature check occurs, how the check works, and how to adjust the Freeze Skip settings. Keep reading for more information!

When do they check temperature or wind speed?
Half a minute before the irrigation schedule starts, both the "Freeze Skip" and "Wind Skip" features utilize real-time weather data recorded by the weather station, including temperature and wind speed.

When do they check the temperature or the wind speed?
The "Freeze Skip" feature means that the controller will detect the real-time temperature 30 seconds before the schedule is executed. If the temperature is below the set threshold, the current irrigation cycle will be skipped. However, if the temperature is above the threshold, the schedule will run, and the controller will recheck the temperature at the 45-minute mark. If the temperature at that time is below the threshold, the schedule will stop; but if the temperature remains above the threshold, the schedule will continue until completion. If the scheduled duration is less than 45 minutes, no additional temperature check will be performed.

For example, imagine it’s a fall morning, and you’ve scheduled lawn watering at 7:00 AM. The "Freeze Skip" threshold is set to 32℉. Half a minute before the scheduled time, the smart irrigation system will check the average temperature reported by the weather station over the past hour. If the temperature is below the threshold, say 30℉, the system will skip the irrigation cycle. The schedule will proceed as planned if the detected temperature is above 32℉. At 7:45, the controller will recheck the current temperature. If it is below the threshold, the schedule will stop. If the temperature remains above the threshold, the schedule will continue until completion. This feature helps households save water and protects the irrigation system from freeze damage.

Wind Skip:
The Wind Skip feature operates similarly, but instead of monitoring temperature, it checks the wind speed before starting irrigation. If the wind speed is too high, the irrigation cycle will be skipped to avoid water wastage due to wind drift.

How to set or adjust it?

While configuring a fixed schedule, you will first set the Rain Skip threshold. If you wish to modify this threshold after finalizing the schedule, you can easily do so by following the steps outlined below.

1. Choose the schedule

In the Schedules interface, select the schedule for which you need to modify the Freeze/Wind Skip threshold.

2. "Weather Intelligence" tab

3. Modify the threshold

Choose the precipitation at which you would like your schedules to skip watering.
